Every year the top elite of web hosting industry come together for 4 days at HostingCon Global. This year San Diego hosted the conference with all its Californian vibes which provided an extraordinary atmosphere for networking, learning and collaboration. Not only the biggest and most influental companies attended as exhibitors this year, but BitNinja was also among the few startups, who debuted at HostingCon for the first time.
Funky schedule, gripping performances
The four days of the conference was so full of exciting moments, we could barely keep up with the agendas. Trainings, workshops and sessions filled the hours in every topic we could wish for. Trending topics, sales and marketing discussions, managerial trainings and technology tracks followed each other.
The brightest star we spotted in the schedule was Lance Crosby, founder of SoftLayer, who shared some lessons of success as keynote speaker of the event. Many of you must know the story behind SoftLayer. But if not, this 10-year anniversary speech was the best time to get to know it. The story starts back then, when he was COO of one of the biggest hosting companies. „Dissatisfied with the direction the company was taking, Crosby invited 11 colleagues to a breakfast one morning in May 2005 to discuss their future. In the subject line of the email invite, he typed, “Time to Go.” The other part is history now. Read about it at The Whir.
On the second day of the show our CEO, George, also presented a 5-minute pitch at the Security Session. He highlighted the fearful numbers of present web threats and the way how BitNinja can fight against them.
Exhibitors on the spot
Mammoths of the industry created spectacular booth experiences sometimes. It’s enough to mention PhoenixNAP’s popcorn stand or HP’s in-house standup comedy shows. We also loved RightSide’s caricature stand, OnApp’s surf booth and GRC’s oil based server cooling system demonstration.
Not to mention, ninjas were also a big favourite. If you couldn’t come to check our booth, here’s a little capture of it.
One of the most enjoyable part was to meet partners all over the world and new friends at our booth.

Industry trends
It was exciting to take part in discussions about the hot topics of our everydays and the unappealing challenges of IT.
We see that the next few month will be extremely busy for the industry. As we’ve seen the upcoming comets of the startup world, the companies’ strategy for providing extra values next to their base services and the willingness to investing more in security field, we are dare to say that next year’s shows will be even hotter than latest HostingCon.
Optimization, security and growth seem to stay the bottle-cry over the next period. Which is quite welcomed news for BitNinja, as we also share these values and work for making the Internet a safer place.
